Lois Elizabeth Gillenwater Addington Shook, 79, Big Stone Gap, VA passed away November 23, 2010 at the Wexford House, Kingsport, TN.
She was born in Scott County, VA on July 16, 1931.
Mrs. Shook was preceded in death by her parents Claude Scott and Charity Elizabeth Gillenwater; first husband Vernon Edgar Addington second husband Donald Shook; one sister Nancy Ann McConnell; one brother Claude Scott Gillenwater Jr.
She is survived by her daughter, Jewel Darlene Addington Gortney and husband, Randell, Kingsport, TN; one step grandson, Neil Gortney; two step great grandsons, Gavin Gortney and Tyrus Gortney, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday November 26, 2010 from 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. John Walters and the Rev. William Gross officiating. Jimmy (Jim) Dean, Warriors for Christ will provide the music.
Graveside service will be held Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 12:00 p.m. at Powell Valley Memorial Cemetery, in Big Stone Va. Family and friend will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the graveside service. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
