Willard Smith Shelton ? 77 ? Gate City, VA. entered into rest at Brian Center Nursing Home of Weber City, VA. Born April 25, 1930 in Scott county, VA. to the late Willard Gilmer and Dona Virginia McMullen Shelton.
In addition to his parents his maternal, paternal and grand parents precede him in death. Also a half sister, Linda Arcenaux.
He was of the Baptist faith and he retired from the U.S. Navy after 32 years of service.
Surviving is his wife, Billie DorisShelton, Gate City, VA. a daughter, Donna Hill of California. Three sons, Stan, Will and Bryan Shelton all of California.
Sisters, Bobbie Duffy, Kingsport, TN. and Sybil Bowen, Fairborn, Ohio. Half sisters,
Carol, Cindy and Allison. One brother, Harold Shelton, of California.
10 grandchildren and 17 great ? grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews. Also special friend, Jerrell Tipton (Tip) Herron.
The Family wants to say thanks to Indian Path and Wellmont Holston Valley doctors and nurses as well as the staff at Brian Center for their care of Smith.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Monday, December 10, 2007 at Gate City Funeral Home. Masonic Services will be conducted at 6:45 p.m.
Services will be conducted 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Paul Blessing officiating.
Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 11, 2007 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. with Military Graveside Rites conducted by American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Post #265 Gate City assisted by the Virginia National Honor Guard.
The family will meet Tuesday at 12:00 p.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
American Legion Hammond Post #3 will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Roy Hill, Darrell Lane and Jerrell Herron.
