Gate City, VA ~ Charles Edward "Eddie" Shell, born May 6, 1967 at Holston Valley Hospital, went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, January 15, 2011 at Indian Path Hospital after a long illness.
Eddie graduated from Gate City High School in 1985, where he played football and started his career in electronics. He had college degrees from Virginia Highlands and ETSU. He shared his knowledge and made a lifelong career at Commercial Electronics. He was a Deacon and a charter member of Community Fellowship Baptist Church. All who knew Eddie knew that he was a very special and giving person. He always took the time to go that extra mile with family and friends. He was very dedicated to his loving mother and his church. The Lord decided it was time for Heaven to open the gates, and bring one of his most special children home. Eddie is now well again and has left great memories for all to share.
He was preceded in death by his father, Charles Shell, and sister, Deborah Shell Roberts.
He is survived by his mother, Wenonoah Shell, 2 brothers and one sister-in-law; Tim, Jim, and Tammie Shell. He is also survived by 1 nephew, Brandon, and 3 nieces; Suzie, Kelly, Laura and husband Eric and a great niece, Gracie.
The family will receive friends at the Community Fellowship Baptist Church at 11:00 a.m., Monday, January 17, 2011. A memorial service will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. with the Rev. Darrell Fletcher and the Rev. John Sheppard officiating. Judy McConnell will provide the music.
Burial of the remains will follow at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Honorary pallbearers and greeters will be the Deacons from Community Fellowship Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Community Fellowship Baptist Church, 614 Broadwater Avenue, Suite 101 or P.O. Box 1407, Gate City, VA 24251.
