Shelby Gean Kern, 71, Church Hill, TN, passed away Wednesday, January 10, 2024, at Johnson City Medical Center.

Shelby was born on July 10, 1952, in Kingsport, TN, to the late Bill Lawson and Myrtle Gillenwater Lawson.

In addition to her parents, her husband, Johnny Wesley Kern; sister-in-law, Brenda Sue Lawson; and brother, Billy Ray Lawson “Jr.”, preceded her in death.

Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Keith (Rebecca) Kern, and Anthony and fiancé, Breanna; sister, Kathy Lane (Butch); brother, David Lawson; grandchild, Bridgett Danielle Kern; 3 great- grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m., Sunday, January 14, 2024, at the Gate City Funeral Home. A celebration of life will be conducted at 7:00p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that all donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses.
