Fredrick Saul – Kingsport, TN Fredrick Saul, 85, Kingsport, TN passed away Tuesday, October 26, 2010 at his residence. Mr. Saul was born February 28, 1925 to the late Joe Thomas Saul and Amanda Elizabeth (Cooper) Saul. He served with the United States Army in the Battle of the Bulge in Germany during World War II, and he retired from Armstrong Construction Company after 37 years of service. He was of the Baptist faith, and was a member of Red Hill Baptist Church, Gate City, VA. He loved fishing, hunting, and building things for his children and friends. He remodeled the home of his daughter, Rhonda and her husband, Jackie. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Howington Saul, to whom he was married for 60 years; one brother, James Saul, half-brothers, Charlie Saul, and Jimmy and Roy Statzer; one sister, Ona Lee Saul. Surviving are his three daughters, Rhonda Saul Tymon and husband, Jackie, Cathy Saul Cooke and husband, Kenneth, and Nancy Saul Gregg, all of Kingsport, TN; two sons, Glen Saul, Kingsport, TN, and Joseph Saul and wife, Tiffany, Nashville, TN; a special nephews, J.T. Crockett; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; sisters, Maxie Howington and Mary Hughes, both of Kingsport, TN; half-sisters, Lillian Price and Elsie Lawson, both of Kingsport, TN, Ruby Wince and husband, Coy, Eidson, TN, and Virgie Rhoten and husband, Bill, Ft. Blackmore, VA; half-brother, Lonnie Statzer and wife, Wilma, Clinchport, VA, several nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m., Thursday, October 28, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 29 2010 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with Preacher Vernon McDavid, Brother Paul Smith, and Brother Vernon Hall officiating. The Red Hill Singers will provide the music. Burial will follow at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA., with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post # 265, Gate City, VA, assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. His grandsons will serve as honorary pallbearers. The family would like to thank the 4th, 5th, and 7th floor nursing staff, Dr. Dale Solomon, Dr. Woodrow Reeves, Smokey Mountain Home Health, and to Wellmont Hospice for all they did for Mr. Saul and the Saul family.
