Chuck Sanders Charles Franklin "Chuck" Sanders, 87, passed away Thursday, May 1, 2008 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center. Mr. Sanders was born in Scott County, VA on May 11, 1920, son of the late John and Callie Carter Sanders. He was a veteran of the United States Army, a retired farmer and was of the Baptist faith. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Minnie Sanders, daughter, Callie Charlotte Sanders, son, Kinley Sanders, sisters, Valice and Alice Sanders, brothers, Floyd, Ken, Jack, Bascom, Arlie, Howard and Tom Sanders. Surviving are his daughters, Margaret Sanders, Weber City, VA, Jane Ramey, Gate City, VA, Mary Sanders, Bristol, VA and Beckie Owens, Copper Creek, VA, sons, Charles F. Sanders, Jr. and wife, Kathy, Church Hill, TN, Clyde E. Sanders and wife, Tammy, Rye Cove, VA, Lee Roy Sanders, Hiltons, VA and Joe Sanders and wife, Kathy, Hill Station, VA, grandchildren, Adam Sanders and wife, Doan, Marie Mosley and fianc'e, Jerry Williams and Christy Sanders, six great grandchildren, sister, Alice Carter, Ft. Blackmore, VA, dear friend and confidant, Angelien Wilson, special friends, Sandy Hensley, J.E. Owens and Darrell Wells. The family will receive friends from 4-7 p.m., Sunday, May 4, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Joe and Kathy Sanders. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Denny Hass and Bro. Cecil Kern officiating. Working Toward the Promise singers and The Clinch River Boys will provide the music. Military graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 5, 2008 at the Sanders Cemetery in Starnes Bluff in the Fort Blackmore community of Scott County, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 of Kingsport and Gate City Post #265 assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Jason Hill, A.C. Hill, Bill Darrnell, Paul McConnell, Matt Townsend and Darrell Wells will serve as pallbearers. The family will be meeting at 10:45 a.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside service. An online guest registry is available for the Sanders family at www.gatecityfunerals.com.
