Sam G. Poole – Gate City, VA

Samuel Gordon Poole, 79, Gate City, VA passed away, Sunday, December 3, 2023, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

Sam was born in Scott County, VA on February 25, 1944, and was the son of the late Thomas and Lucinda (Light) Poole.

He was a veteran of the United States Army, and an avid outdoors man who loved hunting.

Sam was a family man who loved his wife, children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He attended Alley Valley Church for many years.

In addition to his parents, his brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert (Ruth) (Maxie) , Joe(Edith), Glen (Mae), Jack (Ann), Jim, and Russell (Ona) Poole, sister, Mabel (Frank) McClung, and brother-in-law, Troy Harrell preceded him in death.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years, Judy (Roberts) Poole, son, Anthony (Sherry) Poole, daughters, Deana (Kevin) Vincent, Diana (Wade) Dingus, and Amy (John Michael) Gilliam, sister, Merle Harrell, sister-in-law, Debbie Poole, special niece, Susie (Al) Wilder, 13 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, along with several nieces and nephews, and his fur baby, Remington.

The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, December 11, 2023, at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jackie Frazier and Brother Wayne Sanders officiating. Eddie Roberts will provide the music.

Military graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2023, at Ridgeview Cemetery, Mineral Hill Lane, Gate City, VA by the American Legion Hammon Post #3, Kingsport, TN, Post #265, Gate City, VA, assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Funeral Honors Team.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 1:15 p.m. Tuesday, to go in procession to the graveside service.
