Mrs. Bonnie Lee Cox Salyer, 86, Kingsport, TN passed away, Tuesday, March 15, 2011 at Indian Path Medical Center.
Mrs. Salyer was born in Scott County, VA on November 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Vincent and Nannie Kilgore Burke. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Anna Ruth Reed and June Taylor; and brothers, Hugh J. Burke and Charles Burke.
Surviving are her sons, Larry Alan Cox and wife, Goldie, Kingsport, TN and Danny Cox, Weber City, VA; grandchildren, Michele Cox, Kingsport, TN, Sandra Lunsford, Kingsport, TN, Sarah Cox Garcia and husband, Jose, Kingsport, TN, and Larry Cox, Jr., Big Stone Gap, VA; great grandchildren, Jeremiah Cox, Aaron Kennedy, Billy Kennedy, Sheena Cox, Sabrina Lunsford, Summer Lunsford, and Hunter Mullins; great great granddaughter, Lola Kennedy; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Friday, March 18, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of her son, Larry. Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 19, 2011 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with the Rev. G.W. White officiating. Greg and Becky White will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at the Nickelsville Cemetery, Nickelsville, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
