Dewey "D.A" Russell

Dewey Arthur "D.A." Russell, 83, entered into rest April 25, 2008 at Johnson City Medical Center.
He was born July 30, 1924 in Scott County, VA and was a lifelong resident of the Natural Tunnel Community. He loved to fish and spend time with his brothers and friends.
Mr. Russell served his country in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division during in the Korean War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William Clark and Hailey Louise Russell; brothers, Dud, Burley, Kinard, Bob and Worley; only sister, Myrtle Russell; ex-wife, Thelma Russell; two sons, Danny and Roger (Radar) Russell; step great grandson, Dalton Hamilton; two nieces and three nephews.
Survivors are his son, Dewayne C. Russell; daughter, Angelea Sharon Russell; wife, Betty Mack Russell; step son and wife, Robert and Beth Mack; step daughter and husband, Liz and Allen Holt; granddaughter, Christa Denay Russell; grandson, Jarred Dustin Russell; great granddaughters, Emily and Gracie Harrison; step grandsons, C.J. and wife, Patsy Hamilton and Joey Mack; step great grandson, Dakota Hamilton; 9 nieces, 6 nephews; several great nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 28, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. Music will be provided by the Hood Family.
Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 29, 2008 at the VA Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN with Charles DeWitt Byrd Post #3382 of the VFW. The family will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
