Joan Rudder, 74, passed away Saturday, April 30th, at Lonesome Pine Hospital in Big Stone Gap, VA after a lengthy illness. She was surrounded by her family and those who loved her.

Born December 26, 1936, Joan was a lifelong resident of Dungannon, VA. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Each spring, she planted many lovely flowers and plants for her family and neighbors to share. She was a wonderful cook, and enjoyed good food and socializing with family and friends. She was of the Methodist faith and attended Dungannon United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two sons, Ed Rudder and wife Sharon of Coeburn, VA and Rick Rudder and wife Donna of Dungannon, VA, a sister, Phyllis Osborne and husband Bill of Kingsport, TN, and a brother, Howard Mann of Bluffton, IN. She had three granddaughters and four great-grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her husband Jack Rudder, a son, Charles "Tony" Rudder, and her parents, Joe and Blanch Mann.

The family will receive friends from 5:00–7:00 on Monday, May 2nd at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 7:00 p.m.. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Joan's name to the Southwest Virginia Cancer Center in Norton, VA.
