Mrs. Lakie Mae Ross, 89, Dungannon, VA. passed away, Monday, December 31, 2007 at the Brian Center Health & Rehabilitation.

Born in Scott County, VA on September 30,1918, she was the last remaining sibling born to the late John Wesley Presley and Florence Alley Dingus.

Preceding her in death was her husband George Wilson Ross, sisters Myrtle Presley, JoAnn Begley, Gladys Peters, Ruth Quillen, Margie Gillenwater and two infant sisters, Lillian and Nannie Ethel and her brother, Clyde Presley.

Surviving are her sons and daughters-in-law, Ted Ross and wife, Brenda, Dungannon, VA and Johnny Ross and wife, Cathy, Dungannon, VA, grandchildren, Donna Powers and husband, Forrest, Diane Hall and husband, Tracy, Beverly Quillen and husband, Preston, Daniel Ross and wife, Claire and Eric Ross and wife, Rachel, great grandchildren, Kelli Powers, Brandon Powers and Lauren Ross and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, January 2, 2008 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 8: 00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Ricky Quillen and the Rev. Charles Taylor officiating. Angie Horne will provide the music.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, January 3, 2008 at the Boatright Cemetery in the Stoney Creek Community of Fort Blackmore, VA. Nephews, Stanford Presley, Doug Presley, Wayne Gillenwater, Sammy Gillenwater, C.B. Peters and Steve Begley will serve as pallbearers. Paul Presley, C.H. Presley, Michael Gillenwater, Dennis Gillenwater, Darrell Gillenwater and Clayton Gillenwater will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will be meeting at the cemetery for the graveside service.

The family would like to convey their very special thanks to the nurses and staff of the Brian Center for their love and care of Mrs. Ross.
