Mae Zella Rhoton, 92, Duffield, VA passed away, Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at the residence of her son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Nancy Rhoton with her family by her side.
Mae was born in Scott County, VA on August 24, 1924. She was the daughter of the late Joseph and Maggie Jane (Williams) Rhoton.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Kemp Rhoton preceded her in death on July 31, 2003; along with her sisters, Rosa Wampler and Pearlie Lane.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Nancy Rhoton, Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Danny Rhoton and wife, Sherry and Charlie Rhoton and wife, Valarie; great grandchildren, Aidan Rhoton, Adaline Rhoton, and Brittany Grindstaff.
The family will receive friends from 5:00p.m. – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, October 23, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley, Rev. Bill Tignor, and Rev. Garry Edwards officiating. Chris Holder and Journey Home will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Monday, October 24, 2016 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Danny Rhoton, Charlie Rhoton, Aidan Rhoton, Dewey Miller, Bill J. Rhoton, and Ernie Ashley will serve as pallbearers. Leon Gaddy and Pete Ashley will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Monday to go in procession to the graveside service.
