Laura Alice Darnell Rhoton, was called home June 1, 2009. She was a resident of Brian Center, Weber City, VA.

In addition to her parents, Huey Everett Darnell and Ernie Elizabeth Darnell, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dan Rhoton in September of 1990, a daughter, Betty Bishop in 1994, a grandson, Wayne Poe in 2003, four brothers and four sisters.

She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and great, great grandmother. She was of the Baptist faith.

She is survived by her son, Wrightly Rhoton and wife, Lucille, Gate City, VA, daughter, Pauline Jones and husband, Coy, Clinchport, VA, daughter, Barbara Dishner, Knoxville, TN, eight grandchildren, Kathy Smith and husband, Dale, Yuma, VA, Patricia Frazier and husband, Lester, Gate City, VA, Jackie Jones, Clinchport, VA, Greg Dishner, Knoxville, TN, Angie Fraze and husband, Dennis, Knoxville, TN, Danny Poe and wife, Imogene, Lenoir City, TN, Lisa Queen and husband, Steve, Church Hill, TN, Paula Rouse and husband, Dean, Surgoinsville, TN, sixteen great grandchildren and nine great great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday June 2, 2009 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral Services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Justin Smith, the Rev. Denny Hass and the Rev. Paul Blessing officiating. Working Toward the Promise will provide the music.

Graveside services will be Wednesday June 3, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. in Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.

Her grandsons and grandsons-in-law, Jackie Jones, Greg Dishner, Danny Poe, Dale Smith, Steve Queen and Dean Rouse will serve as pallbearers.

Dennis Fraze, Lester Frazier, Rusty Smith and Mark Frazier will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 10:15a.m., to go in procession to the graveside service.

The family of Laura A. Rhoton would like to thank all of the staff at the Brian Center, and to the nurses who were present at their Mom's passing, for their loving care, compassion and concern. God Bless you.
