John Lee Rhoton – Duffield, VA
John Lee Rhoton, 91, Duffield, VA passed away, Friday, September 29, 2017 at Bristol Regional Medical Center, Bristol, TN.
John was born in Scott County, VA on December 16, 1925. He was the son of the late Emmitt and Myrtle Rhoton.
John attended church at Sloan Town Church in Duffield before his illness kept him from attending.
He was an avid gardener and farmer. He loved his family and his fur babies.
In addition to his parents, his sisters, Bertha Willis and Louella Rhoton; brothers, Sonny Rhoton, Vernon Rhoton, and Thomas (Tom) Rhoton preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife, Mary Geneva Rhoton, Duffield; daughter, Linda Overbay and husband, John, Kingsport, TN; son, Larry Rhoton and wife, Edna, Duffield, VA; sister, Betty Lawson, Duffield, VA; grandchildren, Anthony Rhoton, Duffield, VA and Jonathan Kindle and wife, Jessica, Jennifer Gordon and husband, Danny, Nathan Kindle and wife, Alicia, Amanda Duncan and husband, Donovan, along with their father, James Kindle; great-grandchildren, Kylee and Ainslee Kindle, and Jacob Kindle; along with several other nieces, nephews, and his special fur babies, Brownie and Lucky.
Friends and family may visit at the home at any time.
Burial will be at Barrett Cemetery on Gravely Hill-Boulder Lane on Sunday, October 1, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Aaron Edens and Norman Sloan will be officiating. Jonathan Kindle, Nathan Kindle, Donovan Duncan, John Overbay, Dewey Miller, and Jason Miller will serve as pallbearers. Those who wish to attend the graveside service need to meet at the cemetery by 1:45 p.m.
The family wants to send a special thank you to John’s caregiver, Mary (2) Schardt for her friendship and loving care.
