Church Hill, TN ? Harrison Rhoton, 67, entered into rest January 16, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Scott County, VA November 4, 1941 to the late Millard and Nellie Hammond Rhoton. Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marcella Rhoton, November 2004; daughter, Frances Rhoton and one brother, Mercer Rhoton.
Mr. Rhoton was a member of Purchase Ridge Church and was self employed for 21 years.
Survivors include his daughter, Georgette and Will Simpson, Church Hill, TN; step daughter, Iva Jean Collins and special friend, Dennis Sweeney, Kingsport, TN; sister and brother-in-law, Marie and James Rhoton, Clinchport, VA; brother and sister-in-law, James and Ruth Rhoton, Clinchport, VA; granddaughter, Lakeisha Simpson; two step grandchildren, Jasmine and Diamond McNew; step great grandson, Ivah Lyfe Brynt McNew; several nieces, nephews and a special friend, Glen Simpson.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his daughter, Georgette.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2009 at Purchase Ridge Church, Clinchport, VA with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Music will be provided by Way of the Cross.
Burial will follow the service at Clendenin Cemetery, Purchase Ridge Community. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
