Bobby Lee Rhoton, 69, entered into rest April 18, 2009 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born Scott County, VA October 16, 1939 to the Loyd Rhoton and Hannah Elizabeth Darnell Rhoton.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Ricky and Tony Rhoton and one grandson, Justin Boggs.
Mr. Rhoton was a loving husband, dad, papaw and great-grand pap. Survivors include his loving wife of 49 years, Clyde Rhoton, Ft. Blackmore, VA; daughters, Cynthia Sexton and fiancé, Robert McClary, Kingsport, TN, Sheila Darnell and husband, Charles, Gate City, VA; son, Christopher "Chris" Rhoton and Rose Cousin, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Bobby Wayne Hillman and wife, Misty, Tommy Dockery and wife, Julia, Leeann Moore and husband, Ralph, Heather Darnell, Rebecca Darnell, Ricky Rhoton, Stephanie Johnson and husband, Jeffery, Lakeshia Rhoton and Timothy Rhoton; great grandchildren, Izaiah Moore, Sierra Moore, Erica Moore, Kelci Hillman, Emileigh Hillman, Ariel Dockery, Kaylee and Kylie Boggs; sisters, Mary Tipton, Clinchport, VA, Louise Ramey, Ft. Blackmore, VA, Peggy Jones and husband, Larry, Ft. Blackmore, VA; several nieces and nephews; his pride and joy, his dog, J.J.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with James Mann and Rev. Ray Dockery officiating.
A eulogy may be given by friends at the time of his service. Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 22, 2009 at Tipton Family Cemetery, Slant Community of Ft. Blackmore, VA.
The family will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Pallbearers will be the members of Virginia Department of Transportation.
Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren.
The family wishes to convey their special thanks to Sarah and Matt and the staff of the Beacon of Life Ambulance Service.
