Melinda Maeleen (McDavid) Reed, 99, Gate City, VA passed away, Saturday, February 17, 2018 at her residence.
Maeleen was born in Scott County, VA on October 10, 1918. She was the daughter of the late Hugh Edward and Mary Della (Moody) McDavid
In addition to her parents, her husband, Raymond W. Reed (1995); daughter, Gayle Couch (2015); siblings, Lucille Williams, Allen McDavid, Ruth Smith, Jean Smith, and Nell Rice preceded her in death.
Surviving is son, Dwain Reed and wife, Diane (Dingus), Gate City, VA; foster daughter, Brenda Brobeck and husband, John, Jonesboro, TN; grandchildren, Jeff Couch, Mark Reed and wife, Summer, Joey Reed and wife, Az, and Megan Hughes and husband, Wes; great-grandchildren, Matthew Reed, Luke Reed, and Bryson Hughes; sister, Betty Peters and husband, Oscar, Jr., Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Jimmy Messer officiating. Jimmy Messer will be providing the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 22, 2018 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Mark Reed, Joey Reed, Wes Hughes, Jeff Couch, Matthew Reed, and Luke Reed will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at Gate City Funeral Home at 10:15 a.m., Thursday for those who wish to go in procession to the graveside service.
