James "Jay" Conley Reed, 70, entered into rest Thursday, October 30, 2008 at Brookhaven Nursing Home, Kingsport, TN.
He was born in Scott County, VA to Conley Reed and Mary Austin.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Reed and one son, Trevor Reed.
Survivors include his daughters, Ramona Reed Curtis, Nickelsville, VA and Tammy Reed Smith, Gate City, VA; son, Randy Reed and wife, Lisa, Bloomingdale, TN; brother, Jack Reed, Iuka, IL; grandchildren, Crystal Curtis, Brandon Reed, Rachel Reed, Ryan Reed, Cody Smith, Hailey Smith, Justin Reed and Megan Reed; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11 a.m.?1 p.m. Saturday, November 1, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his granddaughter, Crystal Curtis, Big Moccasin Rd. Services will be at 1 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Tommy Benton officiating. Music will be provided by Freddie and Sonya Redman and Bill Smith.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Reed, Bronson Easterling, David Starnes, Corey McCarty, Cody Smith and Daniel Henry.
Honorary pallbearer will be Randy Reed.
He will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Gate City Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Reed family.
