Claude Raymond Reed – Weber City, VA

Claude Raymond Reed, 89, went to be with the Lord Monday February 28th, 2011 at Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN following a brief illness.

He was born in Scott County, VA on March 16, 1921, living his entire life there. He was retired from Tennessee Eastman in 1981 after almost 41 years of service. He was of the Protestant faith.

He was preceded in death by his parents O'Feryl Jennings Reed Sr. and Letha Othella Wampler Reed, one brother O'Feryl Jennings Reed Jr., one sister Thelma Reed, an infant son Donald Ray Reed, an infant granddaughter Sally Marie Wilmoth and an infant great great granddaughter Kylie Grace Hickman.

Surviving are his loving wife and sweetheart of 69 ½ years Bennie Evelyn Peters Reed of the home, daughter Rita Wilmoth and husband Wayne of Mt. Carmel, TN, son Benny Reed and wife Barbara of Gate city, VA, 4 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Wednesday March 2, 2011 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of Gate City Funeral Home, Gate City, VA. The funeral service will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. at Gate City Funeral Home by the Rev. J.W. Bowen. Burial will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday March 3, 2011 at Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA.

Pallbearers: Jerry Wilmoth, Anthony Wilmoth, Charles Hartgrove, David Reed, Olin Babb Jr., Chris Kimbler, Wayne Daugherty, and Joe Carter. Honorary Pallbearers: "All of Daddy's friends from Daugherty Brothers, Chevrolet".
