Rex Redwine

Elbert Rex Redwine, 84, entered into rest August 24, 2009 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert Carson and Grace Kiser Redwine.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Juanita Jean Redwine; two brothers, Leroy and Fred Redwine.
He was born in Scott County, VA on January 22, 1925. He lived most of his life in Big Moccasin Valley. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Kingsport Press in the late 1980's.
He enjoyed the outdoors, tending to his cattle, and playing with his great granddaughter, Braylee (his little girlfriend).
Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Donna R. Campbell and Michael, Nickelsville, VA; son, Michael L. Redwine, Nickelsville, VA; grandchildren, Roger Campbell and wife, Amy, Nickelsville, VA, Jennifer Campbell, Nickelsville, VA, Elizabeth Williams and husband, James, Kingsport, TN, Kimberly Redwine, Salisbury, MD; one great granddaughter, Braylee Williams, Kingsport, TN; two nephews, John and David Redwine.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Wednesday, August 26, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve Collins officiating. Music will be provided by Jack Troutman.
Military graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 27, 2009 at Oak Hill Memorial Park, Kingsport, TN with American Legion Hammond Post #265 and Gate City Post #3. The family will be meeting at 9:15 a.m. at the funeral home to go in procession to the cemetery.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
