Franklin James Ramey, 77, Ft. Blackmore, VA passed away, Friday, June 15, 2012 at Ridgecrest Manor Nursing Home, Duffield, VA.
Mr. Ramey was born in Scott County, VA on April 8, 1935 to the late Radford and Cora Darnell Ramey He was retired from Tennessee Eastman Kodak.
In addition to his parents, his daughter, Brenda Ramey and son, Billy Ramey; along with several brothers and sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughters, Deborah Babb, Weber City, VA and Virginia Harber and husband, Ricky, Ft. Blackmore, VA; grandchildren, Melinda Babb, Jordan Harber, and Tracy Graham; great grandchild, Olivia Page Stallard; sisters, Kathleen Carter and husband, Guy, Kingsport, TN and Lucy Hass, Gate City, VA; brothers, Mach Arthur Ramey, Clinchport, VA and Tommy Ramey and wife, June, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, June 18, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his daughter, Deborah Babb. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Kyle Akers officiating. Donna and Denny Hass will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, June 19, 2012 at the Cox Chapel Cemetery in the Mabe community of Scott County, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
The family requests those who wish make a donation to Gate City Funeral Home in the name of Franklin J. Ramey to help with the funeral expense.
