Rye Cove, VA – Jackie Albert Raby, 57, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 15, 2009 at Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, OH due to complications from heart surgery.

He was born on January 2, 1952, the son of Willie Mae Raby and the late Fred Albert "Alb" Raby.

He was of the Baptist faith, and a graduate of Rye Cove High School and Scott County Vocational School in 1970. He retired from the Eastman Chemical Company in Kingsport, TN.

He was also preceded in death by his infant daughter, Karen and his sister, Frieda Raby Dockery.

Survivors include his daughters, Sacha Raby, Orlando, FL and Chandra Breeding and husband, Steven, Kingsport, TN; a step-son, Trever Hardy, Gate City, VA; his mother, Willie Mae Raby, Rye Cove, VA; the mother of his children, Ann Raby Flanary, Orlando, FL; nephews, Greg Dockery, Mars Hill, NC, Keith Dockery, Duffield, VA and Kevin Dockery, Weaverville, NC; aunts, Peggy VanZant and husband, Paul, Linda Dockery and husband, Ray and Brenda Dishner, all of Duffield, VA and Carrie Raby, Gate City, VA.

The family would especially like to recognize Jack's close friend, Lonnie Berry, who has provided extensive support to Jack, the Raby family, and numerous friends.

The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, March 18, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home.

Funeral services will follow the visitation at 8 p.m. with ministers, Ray Dockery, Stephen VanZant and Lonnie Berry officiating. Music will be provided by Nancy Rhoton.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends attending the graveside service are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m. to join the procession to the cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Doug Dockery, Greg Dockery, Keith Dockery, Kevin Dockery, Tony Dockery, Steven Breeding, Donald Flanary and Bob Williams.

Honorary pallbearers include Jack Light, Paul VanZant, Billy Fred Cutshaw, Shannon Dishner, Fred Raby, Coy Jones, Danny Poore and all employees and patrons of the Waffle House (Headquarters) on East Stone Drive in Kingsport, TN.

Memorial contributions may be made to the church or charity of your choice.
