Wanda Quillen, 79, Gate City, VA passed away, Sunday, November 18, 2012 at her residence.
Mrs. Quillen was born in Scott County, VA on November 18, 1933 to the late Bordie Dee and Berthie Daugherty Curtis.
She was a member of New Hope Methodist Church and attended Red Hill Church for many years.
She was a retired Teacher's Aid with the Scott County School System. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, Emily and Isaac.
In addition to her parents, her brother, J.D. Curtis preceded her in death.
She is survived by her husband, Olinthus Quillen, Gate City, VA; son, Joseph (Joe) O. Quillen, III and wife, Christine, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Emily Quillen and fiancé, Cody Davidson and Isaac Quillen; brother, Cecil Curtis and wife, Phyllis, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
Special friends, Mary Lou Roberts, Weber City, VA and Carrie Horton, Fairview, VA.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, November 20, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Vernon McDavid officiating. David and Debbie Easterling will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, Novmeber21, 2012 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Milburn Hall, James Jones, Jim Coley, Darius Hall, Dan (Tucker) Gray, Cody Davidson will serve as pallbearers. Eddie Richmond, John Barger, Tom Hilton, Gladston Wayne Hammonds, Jim Stallard, Charlie Bill Gray, and John Stallard will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Wednesday to go in procession to the graveside service.
