Lucille Quillen – Gate City, VA
Nancy Lucille Quillen, 90, Gate City, VA passed on to eternity, Tuesday, August 4, 2015.
Lucille was born in Scott County, VA on March 31, 1925. She was the daughter of the late Benjamin and Callie Hammonds Harris.
Lucille exhibited unconditional love to her children and extended family throughout her life. She was passionate about her family, her politics and about serving her community and her neighbors. Lucille was a long time member of the Copper Creek Ruritan and served in many roles in the club to meet the needs of her community. She was a member of Copper Creek Community Church, and also attended Celebration Church with her daughters later in life. Lucille and her husband, Buster, were proprietors of Copper Creek Market in the Copper Creek community where she loved to share time and stories with her friends and neighbors.
Lucille was preceded in death by her husband, Buster Quillen Sr. of Gate City, VA., and her mother and father Benjamin and Callie Harris, two infant brothers and by her sister Lakie Lane and her brother Roy Harris.
She is survived by her four daughters; Elizabeth Casteel of Kingsport, Brenda Wallace and husband James of Kingsport, Claudine Pavlik and her husband Robert of Richmond, VA., and Judy Henry and her husband Charles of Kingsport; and by one son, B.B. Quillen Jr. and wife Joann of Gate City, VA. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 5-7p.m. on Thursday, August 6, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Ed. McClain officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m., Friday, August 7, 2015 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Pallbearers at her memorial service will be her grandsons, Joshua Henry, Brian Pavlik, Jonathan Pavlik, David Quillen, Tracey Quillen, and Jeffery Casteel.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m., Friday to go in procession to the graveside service.
