Martha Louise Gilliam Qualls, 72, Duffield, VA went to be with her Lord, Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Ridgecrest Manor in Duffield, VA.
She was born in Hawkins County, TN on May 13, 1941 to the late Mitchell and Bonnie Presley Gilliam. She was a loving mother, sister, and grandmother
In addition to her parents, her husband, James (J.P.) Qualls, sister, Shirley Head; two brothers; brothers-in-law, Cecil Head and Kemp Qualls; her mother and father-in-law, Edgar and Laura Qualls preceded her in death.
Martha is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Katherine and Lester Bowen, Duffield, VA, Karen and Sam McDavid, Duffield, VA, Brenda and Ted Miller, Duffield, VA, and Lisa and Phillip Lane, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Samantha Morelock and husband, Garry, Kingsport, TN, Leslie Hood and husband, Nick, Duffield, VA, Laura Beth Bowen, Anthony Bowen, Cody McDavid, Alisha Kern and husband, Josh, Duffield, VA, Leah Roberts and husband, Michael, Duffield, VA, and Sophie Lane, Kingsport, TN; great grandchildren, Preston Bowen, Mackenzie and Drue Hood, Jasmine Kern, and Jackson Bowen; sisters, Faye Wallen and husband, Roy, Kingsport, TN, Ileene Clark and husband, Gene, Kingsport, TN; sisters-in-law, Glenda Stapleton and husband, Jerry, Gladys Qualls, and Betty Qualls; brother –in-law, Ronnie Qualls and wife, Eula, Kingsport, TN; along with several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, January 23, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Katherine Bowen. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m., in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Jackie Frazier, Rev. William Bowen, and Rev. Roy Lane officiating. The Bowen Family, Larry Bishop, and Eddie Roberts will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 24, 2014 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Anthony Bowen, Cody McDavid, Josh Kern, Michael Roberts, Preston Bowen, Nick Hood, Garry Morelock, Joel Clark, Worley Carter, and Eddie Roberts will serve as pallbearers. Lester Bowen, Sam McDavid, Ted Miller, Ronnie Qualls, Scottie Qualls, Alex Qualls, Adam Qualls, Kent Qualls, Brad Qualls, Jeff Qualls, Tina Murray, and John Hall will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 12:15 p.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff of Ridgecrest Manor for all the love and compassion given to Martha and her family.
