Mr. Claude Elmer Qualls, 85, Duffield, VA passed away, Monday, November 14, 2011 at his residence.
Mr. Qualls was born in Scott County, VA on August 7, 1926, son of the late Charlie and Rebecca Jo Clendenin Qualls.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Rachel Fields Qualls; sisters, Hannie Qualls, Bertie Qualls Rhoton, and Emma Qualls Williams; brothers, Lonza, Edgar, John, Willie, Lester, Ralph, and Clarence Qualls.
He is survived by his daughters, Anna Lane and husband, Wayne, Arlington, VA, Della Gibson and husband, Kyle, Duffield, VA, Dorcas Edens and husband, Fred, Elizabethton, TN, and Tracy Mullins and husband, Ricky, Duffield, VA; 8 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren; special friend, Carolyn Russell; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, November 16, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Carl Gibson and Rev. A.J. Lane officiating. Pam and Eddie Roberts and Eric Stanley will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 17, 2011 at the Qualls Family Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Larry Thompson, David Berry, Byron Mullins, Bobby Rhoton, J. R. Gibson, Roy Roberts, Randy McNutt, and Kedrick Gibson will serve as pallbearers. Kemp Qualls, Ronald Qualls, Billy Qualls, and Jeff Gibson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
