Gladys Berry Pridemore, 91, Duffield, VA passed away, Thursday, June 30, 2011 at Ridgecrest Manor.
Mrs. Pridemore was born in Scott County, VA on September 10, 1919, the daughter of the late Cornett and Giftie Tomlinson.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Worley Berry, her second husband, Lee Pridemore; daughters, Eva Lee Smith and Thelma Hammonds; sons, Elwood Berry, Mack Berry, and Samuel Berry; a grandson, Adam Shane Calhoun; two sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her daughters, Helen Calhoun and husband, Leon, Duffield, VA, Agnes Berry, LA, Martha Janey Laney and husband, Bobby, Coeburn, VA, Etta Berry, Dryden, VA, and Jean Adams and husband, Jimmy, Duffield, VA; sons, Vernon Adams and wife, Phyllis, ID, Howard Berry and wife, Liz, Duffield, VA, Tom Berry, Bristol, VA; daughter-in-law, Alpha Berry , Stickleyville, VA; step-daughter, Betty Pridemore, Kingsport, TN; step-sons, Charles Pridemore and Wallace Pridemore, both of Kingsport, TN; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; brothers, Ray Adams and wife, Lois Ann, Duffield, VA and Kenny Adams, Denney Adams, and Matthew Adams;, all of Duffield, VA; sister, Lora Adams, Duffield, VA; a very special friend, Bill Brooks, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, July 4, 2011 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Jimmy and Jean Adams. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Brother Charles Rhoton officiating. Way of the Cross will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 5, 2011 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Bobby Laney, Jimmy Adams, Greg Adams, Ricky Smith, Tom Berry, Jr., and Tom Berry will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m., Tuesday to go in procession to the graveside servie.
