Carl Thomas Presley, 61, departed this life Monday, March 31, 2008 to be home with his son, Thomas. Earth's loss is Heaven's gain.
He was born June 9, 1946 in Hancock County, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Stewart Presley; parents, Martin and Julie Presley; son, Walter Thomas Presley; brother, Harrison Presley; sister, Mary Jane Horton; brother-in-law, Grant Horton.
Mr. Presley attended Gillenwater Church.
Survivors are one brother, Rev. Luther Presley and wife, Edith; niece, he loved as his daughter, Daphne "Punch" Crawford and husband, Chester; their children, Aaron and Emily, who called him Papaw; nieces, Nancy McDavid, Mae Edwards, Linda Poore, Robin Horton, Tiny Crawford, and Wilma Cox; nephew, Howard Presley; many other great nieces, nephews, cousins and uncles; dear friends, Wiley Johnson, Mickey Smith, Woody Fleenor, Allen Cox and Grace Mcrary.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of Wilma Cox, 489 Bancroft Chapel Road, Lot 25, or call 423-343-0041.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 3, 2008 in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Luther Presley, Rev. Larry Nelson and Rev. Lelbert Thornburg officiating. Music will be provided by B.J. DeBusk.
Burial will follow the service at Mill Creek Church Cemetery, Sullivan Gardens. Pallbearers will be Chester Crawford, Howard Presley, Jack Mcrary, Daniel Presley, Lukas Presley, Jerry Poore, Reggie Underwood and Jamie Edwards.
Special thanks to his doctors, Hospice and everyone who helped during our time of sickness and loss. A special thank you to Linda and Jerry Poore for making their home, his home. Carl went to be in Heaven with his family by his side. God Bless you all.
