Ronald Randolph Powers, 79, Duffield, VA passed away, Thursday, February 26, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Ronald was born in Scott County, VA on February 24, 1936, son of the late Kelly and Golda Smith Powers.
He was retired from Daniel’s Construction Company with 38 years of service.
Ronald loved his family, friends , and farming.
In addition to his parents, his son, Ronnie Lee Powers; sister, Pauline Noe; brothers, Bud, Omer, Donald, and Elmer Powers preceded him in death.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Nancy Rhoton Powers, Duffield, VA; son, Forrest Powers and wife, Donna, Dungannon, VA; daughter, Cathy Sweeney and husband, Sam, Max Meadows, VA; grandchildren, Kelli Dingus and husband, Nick, Brandon Powers and fiance, Megan Starnes, Victoria Sweeney, and Elizabeth Sweeney; great grandchildren, Isabella Dingus, Keaton Dingus; sister, Marie Noe, Richmond, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, February 28, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Gate City Funeral Home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. Way of the Cross and Phillip Free will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, March 1, 2015 at the Powers Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m., Sunday to go in procession to the graveside service.
The family wishes to convey a very special thank you to Carolyn Horton, Lee Sturgill, Bill Sturgill, Jean Rose, Irene Bledsoe, Jimmy Qualls, Jack Tomlinson, Conley Rhoton, Bill Pearcy, Cloise Smith, Howard Roller, Kermit Allen, Howard Berry, and Lizzie Mae Berry for their love and support.
