Jeff Porter – Gate City, VA
Jeffrey Keith Porter, 49, Gate City, VA passed away, Monday, October 5, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a short illness.
Jeff was born in Sullivan County, TN on February 19, 1966. He was the son of Carol Fleenor Wallace and the late William Gary Porter.
In addition to his father, his maternal grandparents, Joe and Nina Sue Fleenor; paternal grandparents, William R. and Geneva McNutt Porter; and uncles, Darrell Fleenor and Carl W. “Butch” Dingus preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Amanda Porter Clemons and husband, Bryan, Mount Carmel, TN; son, Hunter Keith Porter, Gate City, VA; mother, Carol Porter Wallace and husband, Gary, Gate City, VA; mother of his children, Sandy Porter, Gate City, VA; fiancee, Beth Williams, Gate City, VA; aunts, JoAnn Porter Dingus, Weber City, VA, Freeda Fleenor, Gate City, VA, and Rebecca Garber and husband, Johnny, Kingsport, TN; and best buddy and cousin, Darlene Gibson.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. Sophie Redwine will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, October 8, 2015 at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Devin McMurray, Kelly McMurray, Ben McMurray, Randall Garber, Kenny Atkins, and Larry Brickey will serve as pallbearers. Ron Wampler, Joe Kyle Fleenor, and Gary Wallace will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15a.m. to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the funeral home to help with funeral expenses for those wishing to do so.
