Zella C. Peters, 90, Gate City, VA, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.
She was born on June 16, 1927 in Scott County, VA to the late James Harmon and Rexie Myrtle (Hammonds) Christian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Ezra Peters.
Zella was a devoted Christian and was very loyal to Jesus. She was a charter member of Manville Holiness Church. In her 65 years of serving the church, she was not only a Sunday school teacher, but she was also a piano player, singer, and a prayer warrior. Zella’s joy was reading her Bible every day and she had told her family that she had read it in its entirety 68 times.
She was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother and she will be greatly missed by her entire family.
She is survived by her sons, Bill Peters and wife, Brenda, Manville, VA, and David Peters and wife, Nancy, Gate City, VA; grandchildren, Christopher David Peters, Amanda S. Conley and husband, Eric, and Travis Peters and wife, Kimberly; great-grandchildren, Lane, Layton, and Grant Conley; brother-in-law, Herman Peters, Santee, CA.
Visitation will be held Saturday, December 16, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Manville Holiness Church. Pastor Dion Turner, Brother Dwayne Williams, and Brother Phil Christian will officiate Sister Zella’s final earthly church service with preaching, singing, and praising the Lord. Music will be provided by friends and family.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, December 17, 2017 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Wayne Hammonds, Chad Hammonds, Scott Hammonds, Chris Peters, Travis Peters, Eric Conley, Ronnie Tipton, and Dewayne Peters will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home by 10:30 a.m. to go in procession to the graveside.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Manville Holiness Church, c/o Sandra Peters, 3706 Red Hill Rd, Gate City, VA.
