Martha Elizabeth Peters, 81, Gate City, VA passed away, Friday, December 19, 2014 at her residence in the Manville community of Scott County, VA.
Mrs. Peters was born in Scott County, VA on November 19, 1933 to the late Farley and Viola Trivett McDavid.
In addition to her parents, her husband, Preston Peters; sisters, Margaret Tipton, Nina Bise, Dorothy Doran, and Glenna Blankenbeckler; and brothers, Raymond McDavid, Don McDavid, and Farley McDavid, Jr. preceded her in death.
She was a member of Manville Holiness Church.
She is survived by her daughters, Freda Lloyd, Kingsport, TN and Martha Amos and husband, Paul, Kingsport, TN; sons, Dwight Peters and wife, Joy, Kingsport, TN, Dwayne Peters and wife, Sandra, Gate City, VA, and Michael Peters and wife, Jennifer, Kingsport, TN; grandchildren, Daniel Lloyd and wife, Carrie, Sarah Lloyd, Nathaniel Amos and wife, Crystal, Scott Amos and fiance, Lauren Durham, Danielle Peters, Grady Peters, Rachel Peters, Zack Winegar, Caleb Peters, Katelyn Peters, and Avery Peters; great grandchildren, Aaron Choplin, Lauren Lloyd, and Taylor Lloyd; sister, Mable Calhoun and husband, Albee David, Kingsport, TN; brother, Harold McDavid and wife, Kendra, Johnson City, TN; a special lifetime friend, Zella Peters, Gate City, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 22, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Deon Turner and Rev. Phil Christian officiating. Sherry Christian and Kim and Ronnie Absher will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at the Adams Cemetery, Manville community of Scott County, VA. .Scott Amos, Nathaniel Amos, Grady Peters, Daniel Lloyd, Caleb Peters, Scott Hammonds, Chad Hammonds, and Zack Winegar will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 10:15 a.m to go in procession to the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Adams Cemetery in care of Dwayne Peters, 3706 Red Hill Road, Gate City, VA 24251.
