Ronnie W. Penley, 60, entered into rest Saturday, June 30, 2007 at
Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
He was born in Sullivan County, TN November 3, 1946 to Naomi Carter Penley and the
late Garland T. Penley, 1994. Including his father, he was preceded in death by
his son, Kurt Penley, 1988.
Mr. Penley served in the United States Air Force serving two tours during the Vietnam
War.
Survivors include his mother, Naomi Carter Penley, Hiltons, VA; sister, Judith Vermillion,
Kingsport, TN; one brother, William E. Penley, Kingsport, TN and four nieces.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, July 2, 2007 at Gate City
Funeral Home.
Military graveside services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2007 at
Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and
Gate City Post #265 and by the Virginia Army National Guard. Those wishing to attend
the military graveside service are ask to meet at the cemetery by 10:45 a.m.
Pallbearers will be American Legion Hammond Post #3 and Gate City Post #265 Honor
Guard and Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard.
Honorary pallbearers will be Preacher Nat Baker, Elmer Blackwell and Junior Wells.
Gate City Funeral Home is serving the Penley family.
