Naomi Penley

Naomi Thelma Carter Penley, 88, entered into rest Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at her residence.
She was born May 8, 1919 to the late Miles P. Carter and Lillie Frazier. Including her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Garland T. Penley; son, Ronnie W. Penley; sister, Polly Carter; brothers, Sterling, Wetzel, Vernon and Ray Carter; grandson, Ronnie Kurt Penley.
Survivors include one daughter, Judith D. Vermillion, Kingsport, TN; one son, William E. (Bill) Penley, Kingsport, TN; four grandchildren, Marcia Vermillion, Michelle Dean, Mindy Frasier and Melissa Manis; four great grandchildren.
She was a charter member of the Carters Fort Chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at Gate City Funeral Home. Services will be at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Nat Baker officiating.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, December 6, 2007 at Holston View Cemetery. The family will meet at the cemetery for graveside services.
Pallbearers will be Robert Bailey, Derrick Keith, Bob Carson, Bob Bledsoe, Allan Carter, and Fred Burchell.
Honorary pallbearers will be Garland Burchell and Elmer Blackwell.
Gate City Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
