Peggy June (Lane) Ervin- Gate City, VA

Peggy June (Lane) Ervin, 64, Gate City, VA, passed away, Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at Holston Valley Medical Center. 

Peggy was born in Scott County, VA, on March 25, 1959, to Gracie Mildred Ramey Lane, the late James Ira “Bean” Lane, Jr.

Peggy enjoyed raising chickens, fishing, hunting for ginseng, and gardening. Her favorite pet was her cat, Boog. She was of the Baptist Faith. Peggy attended Gillenwaters Baptist Church, Peters Chapel Church, and Bishop Memorial Church for many years. 

Preceding her in death are her father, James Ira “Bean” Lane, Jr.; husband, Harry Gilmer Ervin; and maternal grandparents, Luther Ramey, Edna Dockery Ramey, Nora Dockery Lane, and James Ira Lane, Sr. 

Left to cherish her memory are her mother, Gracie Mildred Ramey Lane; her pride and joy, her son, Joshua Lee Ervin; sisters, Shelby Cantrell, Tina Lane, and Carolyn Gillenwater (Greg); granddaughter, Alexis Ervin; and several nieces and nephews. 

Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00p.m., Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Ervin Cemetery, Manville Community, Gate City, VA, with Brandon Smith and Robbie Dockery officiating. Brandon Smith will provide the music. Family and friends are asked to meet at the funeral home at 1:15p.m., to go in procession to the graveside service. 

Mick Laney, Scott Crawford, Greg Gillenwater, William Ramey, Travis Shupe, Wayne Ramey, Trevor Keller, and Michael Ervin will serve as pallbearers. 

In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with funeral expenses. 

The family will receive friends, at the home of her mother, Gracie Lane, 723 Strong Hollow Lane, Fort Blackmore, VA, from 4-6p.m., Saturday, March 9, 2024.
