Della Barnette Payne, 90, Blackwater, VA passed away, Thursday, September 9, 2010 at her residence.
Mrs. Payne was born in Scott County, VA on July 20, 1920, the daughter of the late Hansford and Jane Bloomer Barnette.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel (Dan) Payne in 1997, son, Clarence Payne, and infant daughter, Lorraine Payne, and a granddaughter, Tammy Gibson, brothers, Gail Barnette, Bige Barnette, Lucian Barnette, Charlie Barnette, Luther Barnette, and Leonard Barnette; sisters, Sally Goad, Linda Williams and Minnie Manis.
Surviving are her children, Marcella Beverly and husband, Danny, Zion, IL, Leona Minor and husband, Luther, Duffield, VA, Loretta Trammell and husband, Ricky, Wanda Reynolds, both of Union, SC, Nell Bowen and husband, Lon, Rebecca Shockey and husband, Wendell, Lawrence Payne and wife, Sharon, Carson Payne and wife, Carol, Tommy Payne and wife, Phyllis, Karen Warren and husband, Doug, all of Blackwater, VA, and Diana Osborne, Duffield, VA; 28 grandchildren and 47 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters, Faye Davis, Burley Barnette, Jerry Barnette.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Saturday, September 11, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley and Evangelist Garry Hood officiating. Garry Hood and David and Tara Dillon will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Sunday, September 12, 2010 at the Payne Family Cemetery, Blackwater, VA. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
