Hubert Hanson Parks, 84, entered into rest Tuesday, November 3, 2009 at his residence.
Mr. Parks was born on November 9, 1924 in Scott County, VA to the late Sam Parks and Ann Lou Sutherland Parks.
Including his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Frankie Marie Parks, Jacklene Cookenour and Juanita Lawson; brothers, S.V., Orville, Trigg, Hayes and Granville Parks.
He was retired from the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his two sisters, Olene Moore, Kingsport, TN and June Johnson, Kingsport, TN; special caregivers, Danny, Christine and Jessica; several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m. Thursday, November 5, 2009 at Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his sister, Olene Moore, 1829 Garland St., Kingsport, TN. Services will be at 7 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. G.W. White officiating. Music will be provided by Gregg and Becky White and Billy Gillespie.
Military graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, November 6, 2009 at Oak Hill Memorial Gardens, Kingsport, TN conducted by the American Legion Hammond Post #3 and the Gate City Post #265. The family will meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Memorial contributions may be made to the House of Prayer Church, Nickelsville, VA or to the Vermont United Methodist Church Love Meals.
