Joe Jerome Parkey, 53, Kingsport, TN passed away, Tuesday, August 5, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center after a lengthy illness.
Joe was born in Kentucky on February 24, 1961 to the late O.Z. and Fostena Turner Parkey.
Joe was a veteran of the United State Marines and of the Virginia National Guard, Gate City, VA.
He is survived by his daughter, Kortney Parkey, Washington; sisters, Olivia Sawyers and husband, David, Marion, VA and Althea Parkey, Gate City, VA; brother, Jeff Parkey, Kingsport,TN; nephew, Demetry Sawyers, Marion, VA; special aunt, Elizabeth Simpson, Gate City, VA; along with several aunts, uncles, cousins and a host of family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 3-4 p.m., Saturday, August 9, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Mark Harbison officiating. Nolan Wolfe will provide the music.
Military graveside services will be conducted Monday, August 11, 2014 at 1:00 p.m., the V.A Mountain Home National Cemetery, Mountain Home, TN. by the American Legion Hammond Post #3, Kingsport, TN and #265, Gate City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
