Earl Palmer – Duffield, VA
Earl Fugate Palmer, 78, Duffield, VA passed away, Friday, April 10, 2015 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Palmer was born in Scott County, VA on May 20, 1936 the son of the late Roy Stephenson Palmer, Sr. and the late Eliza Jenkins Palmer.
Earl was retired from B&B Manufacturing and was a member of Cedar Grove Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Statzer, Duffield, VA, Marjorie Jane Palmer, Kingsport, TN, and Anna Palmer, Duffield, VA; granddaughters, Cyndi Statzer, Heather Palmer, and Miranda Griffin; special niece, Jean Hilton, Duffield, VA; sisters, Ellen Muire, Salisbury, NC, Jessie Craig and husband, Melvin, Boones Mill, VA, Judy Haines, Fairlawn, VA, Marjorie Morrison and husband, Mike, Mt. Airy, NC, and Jayne Belton, Graham, NC; brothers, Roy Stephenson Palmer, Jr., Duffield, VA and James Palmer and wife, Cassie, Duffield, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Monday, April 13, 2015 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of his brother, Roy Stephenson Palmer, Jr. of the home place. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Elvis Massengill will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at the Palmer Family Cemetery in Robinette Valley, Duffield, VA. Michael Hilton, Devin Hilton, Brandon Palmer, Randy Griffin, and Bob King will serve as pallbearers. The men of Cedar Grove Baptist Church will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations can be made to Gate City Funeral Home to help with the funeral expense.
