Maxie Dockery Overbay, 73, Duffield, VA passed away, Thursday, February 10, 2016 at the Dwelling Place Kingston Center, Duffield, VA with her family by her side.
She was born in Scott County, VA on October 13, 1942. She was the daughter of the late James Ezra and Nellie Mae (Summey) Dockery.
In addition to her parents, her brothers, Jimmy Paul Dockery and Donald Frank (Toozle) Dockery preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sisters, Frances Mae Dockery Sanders and husband, Wayne, Ft. Blackmore, VA and Betty Sue Dockery Page and husband, Jerry, Gate City, VA; brothers, Billy Joe Dockery and wife, Marie (Compton), Ft. Blackmore, VA, Larry Gene Dockery and wife, Nelda (Lane), Ft. Blackmore, VA, and Gary Wayne Dockery, Ft. Blackmore, VA; her special niece whom she helped raise, Angela Riggs Owens; along with several other nieces, nephews, and cousins, and many friends.
The family will receive friends from 6-7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 12, 2016 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Service will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Dewey Shaffer and Rev. George Gibson officiating. Chris Holder and Journey Home will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:0 a.m., Saturday, February 13, 2016 at the Lawson Cemetery, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Billy Riggs, Brandon Page, Cody Dockery, Shannon Dockery, Michael Riggs, and Kenneth Stewart will serve as pallbearers.
