Roscoe Osborne – Kingsport, TN
Roscoe William Osborne, 85, Kingsport, TN passed away, Saturday, April 26, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Mr. Osborne was born in Scott County, VA July 13, 1928 to the late Lilburn P. and Suzanna Vicars Osborne. He was the youngest child and last remaining sibling of twelve.
He was a World War II veteran of the United States Army. He was an instrument analyst with Eastman Chemical Company from which he retired in 1986.
Roscoe was a member of the Kingsport Shire Club, Masonic Lodge #688 of Kingsport, TN, the a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Kingsport, TN.
In addition to his parents, his grandson, Michael Shane Barnes, and his eleven siblings, Silas Cowen Osborne, Steven Osborne, Dora Lee Baker, Virginia Jennings, Walter Warren Osborne, Ransom Lee Osborne, Nannie Velle Mann, Edward Andy Osborne, Agnes Gertrude Strugill, Eva Otelia Boggs, and his twin, Joseph Otto Osborne preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Hazel Crook Osborne, Kingsport, TN; son, William Doby Osborne and wife, Dianna, Kingsport, TN; daughter, Martha Jane Barnes and husband, Mike, Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Amy Osborne Stevens and husband, Kevin, St. Petersburg, FL, Megan Barnes, Huntsville, AL, and Aaron Joseph Osborne, Knoxville, TN; great granddaughter, Kaelie Marie Capshaw, Huntsville, AL; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 29, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Steve Collins officiating.
Military graveside services will follow at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA conducted by the American Legion Post #3, Kingsport, TN and Post #265, Gate City, VA assisted by members of the Virginia Army National Guard Honor Guard. Aaron Joseph Osborne, Mike Barnes, George Osborne, Jack Crook, and Kevin Stevens will serve as pallbearers. John Thomas and Bill Wilson will serve as honorary pallbearers.
