Donald Roger "Don" Odle, 70, Nickelsville, VA passed away peacefully, Saturday, December 21, 2013 at home with his loving family by his side.
Born April 21, 1943 to the late John W. and Emma H. Odle. He was a loving husband, Dad, Papaw and friend to everyone. He was employed at Kingsport Press (Quebecor Hawkins County) for 35 years before retiring due to declining health.
He was a member and served as Master of Fidelity Lodge #173, Nickelsville, Va. Don was a lifetime member and served as captain of the Nickelsville Rescue Squad for several years and was also a former member of the Nickelsville Fire Dept. He was of the Baptist faith with Christ in his heart.
In addition to his parents, his infant sister, Carrie Belle and brother, John Robert preceded him in death; along with brothers, Jack Odle, Dick Odle, Nickelsville, VA; sisters, Lou Richards, Faye Burleson, Kingsport, TN and Peggy "Peg" Musick, LA.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Nancy Odle, Nickelsville, VA; daughter, LaDonna and husband, John Ring, Kingsport, TN; sons, Michael Odle and wife, Jeana, Mount Carmel, TN, Landon Odle and wife, Tessa, Nickelsville, VA, Brandon Odle and Ashley McMurray, Nickelsville, VA; 4 grandchildren, Josh and Ashley Ring, Kyleigh Odle and Kinsley Odle; mother-in-law, Muriel Stapleton, Nickelsville, VA; sister-in-law, Velma Odle, Nickelsville, VA; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special "thanks" to caregivers, Tessa Odle, Judy Stapleton, Shirley McConnell, Dr. Gregory DeMotts and staff, Bristol Home Health and Caris Health Care (Hospice).
The family will receive friends from 11-2 p.m., Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the Funeral Home with Pastor G.W. White and Pastor Kevin Sanders officiating.
The graveside will be conducted following the service Monday, December 23, 2013 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and Friends will serve as pallbearers.
