Walter Harvey "W.H." Nuckels, 80, Nickelsville, VA passed away Monday, April 9, 2012 at his residence.
W.H. was born in Russell County, VA on June 14, 1931, the son of the late James H. and Lois Johnson Nuckels. He was a lifelong farmer and fox hunter; and was a member of the Masonic Lodge N.O. 173 of Nickelsville, VA.
In addition to his parents, his brother, Jimmy Neal Nuckels preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Stapleton Nuckels, Nickelsville, VA; son, Dale Nuckels, Nickelsville, VA; aunts, Clara Johnson, Castlewood, VA and Billie Tate, Bristol, VA; sister-in-law, Dorothy Salyer and husband, Arvil, Kingsport, TN; brothers-in-law, Paul Stapleton and wife, Brenda, Halifax, VA, Raymond Stapleton and wife, Saluda, Staunton, VA, and Kelly Stapleton and wife, Susie, Mooresville, NC; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.- 12:00 p.m., Thursday, April 12, 2012 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with the Rev. Henry Meade officiating.
Burial will follow the service at Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Paul Stapleton, Raymond Stapleton, Kelly Stapleton, Jeff Stapleton, Chris Stapleton, Roger Stapleton, David Stapleton, Mark Salyer, and Everett Sexton will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Nickelsville United Methodist Church or the Nickelsville Rescue Squad in honor of W.H.
