Rosa Lee Neeley, 67, passed away, Friday, January 9, 2009 at her residence with Jesus, her children and grandchildren by her side. Our precious mother dedicated her life to Jesus and her children.
She attended Rye Cove Pentecostal Church for several years until she had to stop due to her declining health.
She was born in Scott County, VA on October 21, 1941, the daughter of the late Jim Griffin and Gertrude Griffin McDavid.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the father of her children, James Rhea Neeley, brothers, James Griffin and Paul Griffin and a sister, Kathy Henslee.
Surviving are her three daughters, Linda Frazier and husband, Brother Jackie Frazier, Duffield, VA, Connie Frazier and husband, Terry, Duffield, VA and Robin Vanzant and husband, Eddie, Gate City, VA, son, Denny Wayne Neeley, Duffield, VA, granddaughters, Heather Townsend and husband, Matt, Duffield, VA and Courtney Frazier Shelton and husband, Ray, Kingsport, TN, grandsons, Jason Frazier, Duffield, VA and Jacob Vanzant, Gate City, VA, one great grandson, Lukas Dale Shelton, Kingsport, TN, sisters, Lizzie Mitchell and husband, Burl. Leona, CA, Betty Stokes and husband, Don, Weber City, VA, step sister, Nettie Mae McDavid Bowen, Gate City, VA, a very special daughter-in-law, Tammy E. Sanders, Rye Cove, VA and a most precious loyal, loving and caring friend, Bill J. Rhoton and his precious children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m., Monday, January 12, 2009 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence. Funeral services will be conducted at 8 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Brother Jimmy Hammonds and Evangelist Kenneth Neeley officiating. Jess and Florence Boggs, Jackie Frazier and Courtney Frazier Shelton, and Brother Jimmy and Sister Wanda Hammonds will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at the Goode Cemetery at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 13, 2009. Ricky Stokes, Eugene Mitchell, Paul Dewayne Griffin, David Gillenwater and Ray Shelton will serve as pallbearers. Rodger Dingus, Roy Roberts, Scott Jennings, Kelly Roberts, Bobby Starnes, Danny Noe, Bruce Lane, Billy Wayne Rhoton, Allen Vanzant, Don Stokes and L.J. Cobb will serve as honorary pallbearers.
The family will be meeting at the funeral home at 12 Noon to go in procession to the graveside service.
