Jake Mullins – Duffield, VA
Millard Duncan “Jake” Mullins, 89, Duffield, VA passed away, Monday, March 26, 2018 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Jake was born in Scott County, VA on June 3, 1928 to the late Jarvey C. and Artha Alverda (Stallard) Mullins.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Mabel Ossie Lee (Hill) Mullins (2015); sisters, Ruth Taylor, Zelma Quillen, and Edith Winston; and brother, Rev. Otis Mullins preceded him in death.
He is survived by his daughter, Linda Arnold and husband, Sam, Gate City, VA; son, Teddy “Ted” Mullins and wife, Mary Ann, Duffield, VA; Jason Garland, Timothy Mullins and girlfriend, Emily Kelly, and Ashley Poe; great grandchildren, Autumn Garland, and Bradley Darnell and girlfriend, Elizabeth Fraley, and Mathias Poe; sister, Otta Mae Winston and husband, Odell, Toledo, OH; brother-in-law, Elmo Winston, Kingsport, TN; and his buddy, Scott Barger along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Thursday, March 29, 2018 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Pastor Joe Hill officiating. Durham’s Chapel and Pastor Robert “Bo” Stewart will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Friday, March 30, 2018 at the Carter Cemetery in the Rye Cove community of Scott County, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
