Mae "Irene" Mullins – Clinchport, VA
Mae "Irene" Mullins, 89, Clinchport, VA passed away, Wednesday, September 15, 2010 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Ms. Mullins was born in Scott County, VA on April 15, 1921. Irene was a former member of Clinchport Christian Church and attended Starnes Bend Baptist Church and Copper Creek Community Church where she served as pianist to both. She was an avid flower gardener and will be missed by her many friends and family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Toy V. Mullins in 1983, and her second husband, Harold DeSpain in 2000; her son, Mark Taylor; sister, Beaurita Ramey and a brother, Claude Taylor.
She is survived by her daughters, Hattie Falin and husband, Ed, Gate City, VA, Jamie H. Mullins, Clinchport, VA; sons, Vincent Mullins, Jr. and wife, Anita, Duffield, VA, Gregory Mullins and wife, Tammy, Duffield, VA; sister, Jimmy Lee Lane, Weber City, VA; grandchildren, Mark Allen Taylor, Mark T. Taylor, Jr., Robert T. Taylor, Jess M. Taylor, Bekki Repass, Bob Spivey, David Falin, Michael Mullins, Tammy Meade, Alan Mullins, Christian Mullins, Brooke Mullins, Brittany Mangum, Brandy Mangum; and her grand dog, Charles Francis Mullins; eighteen great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Friday, September 17, 2010 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Clayton Williams officiating. Jack and Shelby Owens will provide the music.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 18, 2010 at the Holston View Cemetery in Weber City, VA. Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
