Rebecca (Becky) Grabeel Moore, 95, formerly of Gate City, VA passed away, Sunday, March 25, 2018 at Elmcroft Manor, Kingsport, TN.
Mrs. Moore was born on June 4, 1922 in Rose Hill, to the late, Curry Lamar and Nell Stickley Grabeel of Jonesville, VA.
Mrs. Moore was preceded in death by her husband Nathaniel Morgan Moore, the son of the late George and Hattie Williams Moore of Jonesville, VA; her brother, Dr. William Sims Grabeel; sisters, Gladys Grizzard and Gene Grabeel.
She is survived by one daughter, Jackie Anderson, Kingsport, TN; one grandson, John Nathan Anderson and wife, Christy, Highland Springs, VA; one granddaughter, Summer Lynn Anderson, Highland Springs, VA; one sister, Virginia Cole, Blackstone, VA; along with several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Moore was a member of the Gate City United Methodist Church, She was a loving, wife, mother, homemaker, and caregiver to her late husband. She enjoyed serving in the Gate City Civitan with her late husband and special friends, “Pegs” and Hubert McClellan, and Moya and Bill Draper.
The family will receive friends from 1-2 p.m. Thursday, March 29, 2018 in the sanctuary of the Gate City United Methodist Church. Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Gordon McBride officiating. Josh Taylor will provide the music.
Burial will follow the service at Lee Memorial Gardens, Woodway VA. Ed Britt, William Kimbler, Andrew Draper, Eugene McClellan, Roger Peters and Allen Weidenbach will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers a donation can be made to the Gate City United Methodist Church or the Gate City Civitan Club.
