Julia Bernice Perry Mitchell, 72, Dungannon, VA passed away Saturday, September 13, 2014 at Wellmont Holston Valley Medical Center.
Ms. Mitchell was born in Scott County, VA on May 29, 1942 to the late John William and Etta Hall Perry.
In addition to her parents, her first husband, Stoney Perry; children, Jessie , Markie, Lester, Mack, and Venus Perry; sisters, Ona Starnes, Sarah Robertson, and Gaynell Begley; and brothers, Curtis Perry, and John Valentine Perry; preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, David Mitchell and wife, Stephanie, Nickelsville, VA, Jackie Perry, Dungannon, VA, Hershell Mitchell, Jr. and wife, Tina, Hiltons, VA, Fred Perry and wife, Betty, Wilmington, OH, Frankie Tipton and husband, Jackie, Church Hill, TN, and Ruby Kern, Gate City, VA; several grandchildren and several great grandchildren, with one very special grandson, Brady Elijah Mitchell; sisters, Nancy Hass, Dungannon, VA and Darlene Sue Bowen and husband, Larry, Hiltons, VA; brothers, Roy Perry, York, PA and Gerald Perry and wife, Rena, Duffield, VA; special friends of the family, Iona and Willie Robinette and Betty Perry with many more admirable friends, nieces and nephews throughout the years.
The family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m., Wednesday, September 17, 2014 at the Gate City Funeral Home and other times at the residence of David Mitchell. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. James Mann and Dr. Todd Cassell officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, September 18, 2014 at the Carter Cemetery on Stoney Creek, Ft. Blackmore, VA. Very special friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to New People’s Bank to the Julia Mitchell Funeral Account or to Gate City Funeral Home to help with the funeral expenses.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
