Robert Gerald Miller, 83, Duffield, VA passed away, Monday, July 22, 2019 at his residence.
Born in Wise County, VA on October 22, 1935, he was the son of the late Daniel Jackson Miller and Delia Ruth (Bowen) Miller.
In addition to his parents, his wife, Martha Jane (Bailey) Miller; sister, Bernice (Miller) Colier and his brother, Denver Joe Miller preceded him in death.
Gerald was a big supporter of anything having to do with the betterment of his hometown, Duffield, VA by serving on the Duffield Planning Commission, working with the Fire Department, and serving as the Mayor for almost twenty years; among many other projects he was involved with.
He is survived by his sister, Lorraine Courtney, Kingsport, TN; children, Michael Miller and wife, Tina, Dunkinsville, OH, Della Sue Hathaway and husband, Preston, Chulavista, CA, David Miller and wife, Sue, Manchester, OH, Lisa Ann Miller, Pound, VA, Karen McReynolds and husband, Tony, Duffield, VA ; several grandchildren and great grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 4-6 p.m., Saturday, July 27, 2019 at the Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 6:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel with Rev. Otis Bowen officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 10:00 a.m., Sunday, July 28, 2019 at the Pete Bowen Cemetery, Duffield, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery for the graveside service.
