James Rufus "Buddy" Miles

James (Buddy) Miles-Gate City, VA

James (Buddy) Miles, 85, Gate City, VA, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2017 at Indian Path Medical Center, Kingsport, TN.

James was born on June 6, 1932 in Scott County, VA and was the son of the late Sam Miles and Mollie Sexton (Miles) Moore.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Virgie Williams, Shirley Castle, and Helen Scalf; brothers, Nathan Miles and Tommy Moore.

He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Freda Pearl Miles, Gate City, VA; sons, Bryan Keith Miles and wife, Margot, Holly Springs, NC, and Jeffery Wayne Miles and wife, Kanicka, Baltimore, MD; 5 grandsons; 1 granddaughter; 1 great-granddaughter; along with several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive family and friends Monday, December 11, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Gate City Funeral Home. Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. in the Gene Falin Memorial Chapel of the funeral home with Rev. Clayton Williams and Rev. Jessie Swanner officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at the Holston View Cemetery, Weber City, VA. Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
